Which medical services are subject to prior authorization?

Prior authorization as a condition that you will be entitled to reimbursement of the costs of medical services provided in other EU Member State on the basis of a previously issued medical referral from a doctor in Slovenia (Directive 2011/24/EU) is required for:

• hospital medical services that include an overnight stay,
• medical services that require highly specialised and expensive medical infrastructures or medical equipment:
  • scintillation camera with coincidence detection in positron emission or without coincidence detection,
  • positron camera,
  • positron emission tomography,
  • computed tomography,
  • hyperbaric chamber,
  • device for nuclear magnetic resonance imaging for clinical use,
  • nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer for clinical use.
